To add to what is expected to be a great year of celebration for Great Britain, the University of Wales, Newport has just kicked off a season of events to mark a hundred years of teaching photography.
The festival was launched last week with the (re)opening of the Newport Survey exhibition, which was a series of collaborations between Newport graphic design and photography students in the 1980s, recording the lives of the people of Newport and the surrounding area. These photographs were edited into magazines and circulated across the city and county.
The re-examination of this archive is one of a series of events being organised by the university. For more information, see the festival website: 100yearsofphotography.newport.ac.uk
